Flower Crafts

When Allie walked into our lake house with a box of art supplies, I knew right then that something amazing was in store! Allie, my sister, is a talented designer who works at Hallmark. She had two crafts prepared for us, paper flowers and pressed flowers. Allie ordered crepe paper online from a company called Oh Happy Day. Their crepe paper stretches so you could make the paper look like petals! My sisters, mom, grandma, and I all sat around a table and made paper flowers and leaves until we had created two beautiful bouquets! All the flowers were unique and personalized. I even made some mini ones for my locker! If you are interested in trying out this craft, there are many online tutorials.

The second craft was the pressed flowers. A few days prior to the craft, we went outside to gather flowers from our lake house property to use in the project. My grandparents love to garden, and have planted several wildflower fields and a cutting garden. We searched around for heavy books to press the flowers in, and found the set of books called The Book of Knowledge that belonged to my great, great grandparents! After several days, the flowers were ready to arrange between two pieces of plexiglass. Allie had laser cut the plexiglass and put holes in the corners for the gold brackets. We plan on hanging them as decorations in our lake house!
