Looking Back, Looking Forward⏳
It's 2018! I began the year in another continent (literally), and ended the year on another planet (figuratively). I don't have the words to describe the range of events that took place in 2017. This last year I have had some amazing opportunities, that I am very grateful for. I learned some things the easy way and some things the hard way. When it's all said and done, I hope I am a more wise and compassionate person than I was a year ago. For me, setting goals is an important step in progressing towards the things I want to accomplish, so I like New Year's resolutions. The thing I am most passionate about is music, both musical theatre and songwriting, so a lot of my goals have to do with that. I started this blog just for fun and as a creative outlet, but have enjoyed writing about the visions behind my original songs. The lyrics of my songs are like poetry. They are not literal translations of my life, but are things that I relate to. Speaking of my original songs, I have a new one in progress. It's about a moment in time trapped inside a music box. Stay tuned!
On a more philosophical side of things, I've been listening to a podcast called Emergence: A Revolutionary Path for Radical Life Change. One of the most recent episodes that I listened to was called The Best Year Ever Blueprint. The host of the podcast, Derek Rydall, has also written a book called Emergence that I plan on reading this year. One of his main ideas is that life doesn't happen to you, it happens through you. On the cover of a book is an acorn with a giant oak tree growing out of it. This symbolizes that everyone has a seed planted in their soul with their own unique, infinite potential already inside of them. As he says, it is not outside factors that happen to us, but how we express what already in us that helps us reach our full potential. I find his words very inspiring, and these are ideas I want to take into the new year.
If our paths have crossed either in person or just in cyberspace, I wish you the best in this coming year!
